The Most Promising Alternatives For Treating Cancer

Consider the following: One of the reasons modern medicine continues to fail in its war against cancer is due to how the disease is viewed. Conventional therapies focus on the end result of the disease – tumours. Yet the tumours are manifestations of a more generalised process.

Cancer researcher Mauris L. Emeka puts it as follows: “Think of the malignant tumour for what it is: it’s an indication that a process has gone wrong. In other words, the tumour is a visible symptom telling us that the body’s metabolism is not working properly.”

So, it is possible that cancer is not simply a genetic disease. Instead it is a disease in which normal cell division is disturbed by external factors such as chemicals, radiation, stress and the modern diet and lifestyle.

If this is the case, what are the alternatives for treating cancer, instead of simply cutting-away or radiating the symptoms? Here are some of the most promising alternative therapies available:

Vitamin C

The idea that vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, could be used to treat cancer was advanced in the 1970s by American scientist Linus Pauling. He is one of a small number of individuals who received a Nobel Prize more than once. The foundation of his theory (and the way it is applied today) can be explained in the following simple terms: Vitamin C is a major water-soluble antioxidant. When injected in high doses it can also act as a pro-oxidant. These are agents that generate free radicals as well as produce hydrogen peroxide, which has tumour-killing abilities. The vitamin C will then oxidise tissues, which is what chemotherapy does. But there is a difference: whilst having anticancer effects, the vitamin C also preserves normal, healthy cells – which chemotherapy doesn’t always

do. Vitamin C at pro-oxidant levels can only be achieved with an intravenous infusion. The most common procedure is to use 75 grams of vitamin C, in sterile water, with a number of minerals, particularly magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, B12 and some B vitamins. The patient is infused over 2.5 hours daily for 3 weeks. Vitamin C levels are tested at the end of the infusion-course and if it is sufficiently high then some significant tumour kill has occurred. This process may have to be repeated depending on the individual results of the infusion-course.

Antineoplaston therapy

Antineoplastons are components of the body’s natural biochemical defence system that helps control cancer without destroying normal cells. Chemically, the antineoplastons include peptides, amino acid derivatives and organic acids. They occur naturally in blood and urine and they are reproduced synthetically for medicinal use.

Antineoplastons act as molecular switches, which turn off life processes in abnormal cells and force them to die through apoptosis (programmed death of a cell). While they trigger the death of cancer cells, they do not inhibit normal cell growth. Antineoplastons “turn on” tumour suppressor genes and “turn off” oncogenes (genes participating in the onset and development of cancer) restoring the proper balance in gene expression.

Antineoplaston therapy is given intravenously or orally, depending on the stage and development of the cancer. In one study 74 per cent of children with low-grade brain-tumours saw a marked improvement in their condition whilst receiving the therapy. In the same study 91 per cent of patients with colon cancer were still alive after five years compared to just 39 per cent of those who received the conventional chemotherapy.

Enzyme Therapy

Enzymes are natural proteins that stimulate and accelerate many biological reactions in the body. Digestive enzymes, many of which are made in the pancreas, break down food and help with the absorption of nutrients into the blood. Metabolic enzymes build new cells and repair damaged ones in the blood, tissues, and organs.

Enzyme therapy is based on the premise that a cancer cell is coated with a protein lining to protect it against the body’s normal immune defences. Certain enzymes can dissolve this cell lining, thereby allowing the body’s white blood cells to destroy the cancer cells.

Pancreatic enzymes were reportedly first used to treat cancer in 1902 by John Beard, a Scottish scientist. German researchers later used enzyme therapy to treat patients with multiple sclerosis, cancer, and viral infections. Some enzyme mixtures are still commonly used in several European countries.

Gerson Therapy

The Gerson Therapy is a powerful, natural treatment that boosts your body’s own immune system to heal cancer, arthritis, heart disease, allergies, and many other degenerative diseases. One aspect of the Gerson Therapy that sets it apart from most other treatment methods is its all-encompassing nature. An abundance of nutrients from thirteen fresh, organic juices and food are consumed every day, providing your body with a super dose of enzymes, minerals and nutrients. These substances then break down diseased tissue in the body, while enemas aid in eliminating the lifelong build-up of toxins from the liver.

One of the major aspects of the therapy is to restore liver integrity – to enable the body to heal. The liver has many different functions vital to the healing process of the body. Organic juices are used because they are easily absorbed. In people with compromised immune function the digestive system is usually under-functioning. The nutrients from juices are easily absorbed into the blood stream in 15-30 minutes. Organic food is used because pesticides add to the toxic burden. The main aim of this therapy is to clear overall toxicities from the cells.

What is striking about all of these alternatives is that they work from the basic principle that cancer starts with toxins in the body and that that is where the prevention and healing starts. Speak to your doctor or health practitioner about these alternatives and a possible different approach to preventing and treating this disease.

  • My daughter has been having her period for 30 days. She has a lot of scare tissue from having a disease which is keeping her from having a baby. She is in a lot of pain. She needs a good dr. that can give her vit. injections. She lives in spokane washington.
    Thankyou

  • I have stage 4 recta cancer, I have used a lot more alternative treatments and still have it but kept me strong after three years. Please comments if anyone used an alternative treatments that helped with this cancer.

  • I am using Gomutra , as advised by Vaidya and also using Turmeric , Aloe in tongue-cancer(squamousal carcinoma cells) Pl. suggest any other natural way to treat the disease.

  • I am researching laetrile (b17) as part of a treatment programme for my wife who is battling cancer. Your readers may be interested in a little book called ‘Alive & Well’ by Dr Philip Binzel in Kentucky – it’s available to read online at : http://www.whale.to/m/binzel.html I am hoping to publish the results of my cancer research which includes many other topics.

  • check out Ganoderma lucidum – also called Reishi mushroom,or Ling zhi. Claims to be good for cancer, esp the crushed spores.

  • The most exciting alternative treatment for cancer that I’ve come across is the method created by orthodox-trained Rome-based Dr Simoncini , who it appears is successfully
treating many kinds of cancer with – would you believe!- Bicarbonate of soda.He declares that cancer is due to a fungus that can actually be seen as a white mass. The application of the bicarb depends on the location of the cancer itself. Often injection by catheter is the most convenient and effective method. He has published a book on his discovery, but if you Google him, you’ll be amazed. Of course, some will always be sceptical, but if he might just be on to something – WOW!

  • I have bee really puzzled, since becoming interested in alternative treatments, why the proponents of these treatments, do not organise double blind placebo controlled treatments as trials?
Surely most patients, who only try such treatments when given up as ‘untreatable’ by orthodox medicine, would be willing to take part in such trials?

  • Please make it clear that it is sodium ascorbate that is used for intravenous infusion – ascorbic acid or other ascorbates are not used.
Also that large quantities of sodium ascorbate taken orally – even as much as a pound a day – are a useful emergency measure – better than doing nothing if there is a problem in getting intravenous treatment. I am informed that sodium ascorbate use by the NHS is not permitted, for example.

  • In the UK, and I believe in the USA, it is illegal to claim to cure cancer. This does not appear to inhibit the orthodox surgeons who cut out cancers and the chemical and radiation treatments that are used afterwards.
Yet it is used constantly, particularly in the USA to prevent alternative practitioners and clinics from operating.
Over the years most treatments have been thereby surpressed and [practitiners jailed. Is the the situation throughout Europe.

  • These natural therapies are not generally known because chemotherapeutic drugs are not for the benefit of patients, but to keep drug companies profitable. Drug manufacturers & oncologists claim that these therapies are “unproven”.

  • I may be getting an over simplistic take on the therapies described above but if all of these therapies demonstrate some favourable results, why have there been no trials done to run two, three or even four of the therapies at the same time?

  • Homeopathy can be very supportive.
Dr Ramnakrishnan, Dr Grimmer and Dr Bannerje approaches have validity
