Sleeping Problems

Sleeping problems manifest in many ways but can all have a significant impact on your life. In fact, chronic sleeping problems can affect your overall health in the long run.

Insomnia is the general term given to people who struggle to fall asleep at night or find they’re waking throughout the night. This may be due to stress, anxiety, poor sleeping patterns or the interaction of medication. Insomnia may be short term, as result of jet lag, or more long term due to emotional problems like stress or depression, which may lead to insomnia lasting for many years until the underlying issues are addressed.

Having trouble with sleeping can also be a sign of other underlying health conditions. According to a US study conducted by Dr. Clifford G. Risk, people with a sleep disorder may suffer from multiple underlying conditions, such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, which are reflected during sleep and disrupt the sleeping process.

Other sleep related disorders could also be affecting your life. Snoring is a very common occurrence when the air you inhale rattles over the relaxed tissues of the throat (in this case it may be more of a concern for your partner!). However, snoring could be hinting at a more serious underlying condition, sleep apnoea. Sleep apnoea is where the walls of the throat relax and narrow so much that they temporarily block air supply, preventing breathing. People with this condition will often wake during the night as a result, impacting their alertness throughout the day.

Fortunately, there are many alternative therapies that can help curb sleeping problems, ensuring that you get a good night’s sleep without having to resort to pharmaceutical sleeping aids, which can have dangerous health consequences. The Daily Health will tell you why you should steer clear of these drugs and how you can combat sleep disorders with the help of safe natural alternatives.
