Beware Of This Cancer-Causing Chemical In RoundUp

With summer showing itself slowly but surely, I’m sure we’re all bound to spend some time in our gardens… You know, weeding out those pesky unwanted weeds popping up overnight…

However, before you grab a bottle of weed killer, you need to know what researchers are saying about the active chemical in these products.

Armed and dangerous

If glyphosate doesn’t sound familiar to you, I’m sure this name will – Roundup.

Glyphosate is the main “killing” ingredient in Roundup and dozens of other products used to zap weeds. It’s the most widely used weed killer in the UK and the US.

While farmers spray millions of acres with it, it turns out that homeowners use just as much… if not more.

But even when you follow the directions exactly and use just a tiny bit here and there, these products still aren’t safe to use.

A new study based on 30 years of research found a positive connection between the glyphosate in weed killers like Roundup and lymph gland cancers. That included both Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.

The researchers noted the “striking increase” in these types of cancers in the last three decades. That’s the very same time during which Roundup use has really taken off.

Just last year, another study warned that glyphosate can fast-track breast-cancer cell growth. That wasn’t found by using some super-big concentration of the chemical either, but with Roundup doses as low as parts-per-trillion!

The researchers called those levels “low and environmentally relevant concentrations.”

And another study last year, this one from India, also confirmed that Roundup promotes cancer at very low levels. The researchers had previously found that it caused tumours in mice… In their latest study they used human skin cells to find out just how it promotes cancer. One of the more shocking discoveries the India team made was that lower concentrations of glyphosate were actually more effective in causing abnormal cell changes than the higher ones were.

When the strength was reduced, the toxic effects actually increased.

As more and more of these studies come out, it sure doesn’t seem worth the risk to your health, and especially that of your children and grandchildren, to spray these poisons everywhere. With a little effort you can keep weeds away without using all these cancer-causing chemicals.

For example, many types of plants are excellent at suppressing weeds. Other tricks, such as a thick layer of mulch, can keep weeds from showing up in the first place.

Then there’s the age-old method of weed control… pulling them out with your hands. Not only will you be outside in the fresh air and sunshine, but you will also be getting a good dose of vitamin D.

Now that’s something that can actually help keep you from getting cancer!
